Minutes of a Meeting of STANTON ON THE WOLDS Parish Council held

on March 10, 2010, at 7.30pm, at the Parish Church, Stanton on the Wolds

451/10 APOLOGIES    There were none.

452/10 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST   There were none.

453/10 MINUTES from previous meeting held on January 13, 2010, were accepted as circulated and signed by the chairman.

MINUTES of Planning Committee meeting held on February 19, 2010,were accepted as circulated and signed by the chairman.

454/10 CLERK’s REPORT    There was nothing to report.

455/10 CORRESPONDENCE

Nottinghamshire County Council advised of its new Local Improvement Scheme 2010, taking over from the Building Better Communities scheme, and being launched by the County Council making an offer of a public seat or a notice board to each parish. After a discussion the council agreed to ask for a seat to be erected on Browns Lane near to the entrance to the business park.

Nottinghamshire County Council advised of changes to the Nottinghamshire Concessionary Travel Scheme including the fact that discounted fares before 9.30 am and after 11pm were being discontinued.

Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire wrote in regard to the benefits of membership but members did not feel they were likely to be useful to them. The chairman said he would attend the Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Annual Town and Parish Conference on April 20th at Cotgrave Place Golf Club between 10.30am and 3.30pm and the tea being provided afterwards.

457/10 VILLAGE AMENITIES AND ENVIRONMENT

Coun. Roy Butler reported on the condition of bridleway 9 leading from Willowbrook to Melton Road and said while the condition of the walking area was acceptable the double gates at the Melton Road end of it were missing. The clerk was to talk to Mr Geoff Brooks who, it was understood, farmed the land on which the footpath is.

458/10 FINANCIAL MATTERS   Members authorised payment of accounts as per the schedule presented.

459/10 SPEED WATCH GROUP

The chairman said the volunteer group was still working effectively and speed checking sessions continued to be held on a regular basis. Recently they had recorded over 30 drivers exceeding the limit, mainly on Melton Road.

Coun. Cottee reported that the County Council were still investigating the extent of the speed limit area on Melton Road and he was still seeking an extension of the area covered by it.

460/10 WEBSITE UPDATE

The clerk said he had no figures to report.

461/10 VILLAGE CELEBRATION FOR THE QUEEN’S DIAMOND JUBILEE IN 2012  

Members discussed the matter of how the village would wish to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of HM The Queen in June 2012 and it was agreed that it would be an item on the agenda for the Annual Parish Meeting. It was suggested that Coun. Sheriston might wish to be particularly involved. It was suggested that a committee be formed and that it was hoped at least four residents would volunteer their help for this.

462/10 PUBLIC SESSION

Coun. Cottee reported that Notts County Council was looking to revise its gritting and salting routes and would welcome comments from parish councillors on any changes felt to be necessary.

463/10 AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING

Members confirmed the Annual Parish Meeting for May 12 at 7.00pm and this to be followed by the Annual General Meeting of the parish council.

Coun. Mrs Healy would arrange refreshments to be served at the Annual Parish Meeting. A reduced size newsletter would be issued to advertise the meeting.

 

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.30pm.
