Minutes of a Meeting of Stanton on the Wolds Parish Council held on November 11, 2009, at 7.30pm, at the Parish Church, Stanton on the Wolds Couns. APOLOGIES were received from Couns. Mrs Angela Benney and Alex McKee and Coun. Mrs Fiona Mason (Rushcliffe Borough Council). DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST There were none. MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2009, were accepted as circulated and signed by the chairman. CLERK;S REPORT FROM PREVIOUS MEETING The clerk had attended the four day Society of Local Council Clerks Annual Conference in Daventry and provided a written report for members From it. CORRESPONDENCE Rushcliffe Borough Council wrote in relation to precept arrangements for 2010/2011. It was agreed the council would look at its budget requirements at the next meeting. Coun. Jim Goodman reported that the village sign at the corner of Stanton Lane and Browns Lane had been interfered with and one of the coping stones had been moved. He had arranged to have the matter rectified. Rushcliffe Borough Council wrote to provide Casual Vacancy Guidance information. Rushcliffe Borough Council and BT wrote in respect of the Adopt a Kiosk Scheme and it was confirmed the council did not intend to adopt the kiosk on Melton Road. It was suggested that some residents local to the site of the kiosk might wish to proceed themselves to adopt the kiosk. Rushcliffe Borough Council advised that under the Parish Planting and Landscape Scheme 2009/2010 it had agreed to make 375 available to the parish council for bulb planting. Nottinghamshire County Council responded to the comments by the parish council on weeds on Melton Road and said it had now carried out weed spraying work. PLANNING MATTERS Planning Applications 09/01671/TPO Felling of 20 trees including 8 dead, coppicing of 2 other; Lodge on the Wolds, Fosse Way. No objection Rushcliffe Borough Council Decisions 09/01523/FUL Raise ridge height to facilitate accommodation, dormer windows to front and rear elevations; 141 Browns Lane. Refuse Permission Planning Appeal 09/00849/FUL Change of use of garage to form granny annexe; 143 Browns Lane. An appeal has been lodged to the Planning Inspectorate against the decision of Rushcliffe Borough Council to refuse planning permission. VILLAGE AMENITIES AND ENVIRONMENT The chairman reported that it would not now be necessary for The Wolds Service Station proprietors to have to move the village seat situated near their premises in connection with an improvement scheme they planned. There were plans however to extend the nearby garage sign. There was a comment that trees near to the junction made it difficult at times for drivers to see the sign. Comment was made on the increasing problem of dog fouling on the village school field. The chairman said he had erected two notices asking dog owners to be aware of the problems they caused by allowing their dogs to foul the areas used by the children. Reports of an electric fence hindering free passage of the footpath leading from Melton Road to the golf course were discussed but it was stated the fence had now been removed. Coun. Butler was thanked for undertaking the duty of laying the wreath on behalf of the council at the Remembrance Day Service. FINANCIAL MATTERS Members authorised payment of accounts as per the schedule presented. SPEED WATCH GROUP Sessions were still being held on a regular basis and motorists were being recorded exceeding the speed limit. WEBSITE UPDATE No figures were available on hits to the website. These would be included in the minutes when reported to a meeting. CONTRIBUTION TO WILLOWBROOK SCHOOL FOR COMPUTING EQUIPMENT The suggestion for this to be considered had been with drawn. The council did agree that it would consider some recognition of the school and it was suggested it might be appropriate to consider a sports trophy for the children to compete for. PUBLIC SESSION Coun. Mrs Healy reported on her attendance at a Police Local Area Group meeting but said she had not been impressed because there had been very little information available to them and she had not been aware of a survey that had been referred to at the meeting. AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING No further items for discussion at the next parish council meeting were put forward. There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.45pm. |
