Minutes of a Meeting of STANTON ON THE WOLDS Parish Council

held on January 12, at 7.30pm, at the Parish Church, Stanton on the Wolds

 1   APOLOGIES        

There were none. 

2  DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST  There were none.

3  MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 10th 2010   were

 accepted as circulated and signed by the chairman.  

    MINUTES OF PLANNING COMMITTEE HELD ON NOVEMBER 23rd 2010   were

accepted as circulated and signed by the chairman.

4   CLERK’S REPORT FROM PREVIOUS MEETING There was nothing to report.

5   CORRESPONDENCE  Rushcliffe Community and Voluntary Service wrote asking for assistance for its Voluntary Transport Scheme and it was agreed to make a £100 grant towards it.

The Royal British Legion advised of a Great Poppy Weekend it was calling on parish councils to support in June, to mark the 90th birthday of the organisation. No suggestions were put forward for involvement.

A letter was received from Mr John Walsh in respect of an item in the parish newsletter, expressing concerns that an actual address had been included in regard to a suggestion of an untidy property frontage. The clerk said he had responded and said the council did not have a name and shame policy.

Royal British Legion, Keyworth and District, thanked the council for the donation received for the annual Poppy Appeal.

Rushcliffe Borough Council forwarded a copy of its Community Resilience report involving communication arrangements for the parish during a major emergency. It was agreed it be put in the circulation file.

Nottinghamshire County Council wrote in respect of the speed limit request for the A606 road and confirmed the petition organised locally had been submitted to the appropriate meeting.

Rushcliffe Borough Council advised of an election forum event being held on February 7th but no one was available to attend.

7  VILLAGE AMENITIES / ENVIRONMENT

Coun. Whitby reported that no salt had been delivered to him in the scheme operated by Notts County Council.

Comment was made in respect of Footpath No 8 and the fact that an electric fence had for a time been erected on the route of the path. The chairman and Coun. Whitby were to continue to monitor the situation and to make contact with Jane Baines at the County Council’s Rights of Way Department.

The meeting was told by the chairman that a dog bin had been ordered by the parish church for erection on the driveway down to the church. There might be an application from Parochial Church Council for funding towards it. 

The meeting gave thanks to Coun. Baines and Mr Roy Butler for their assistance in the Remembrance Service in November.

The clerk was asked to seek information from Rushcliffe Borough Council in respect of regulations concerning advertisement signs. Concerns were expressed at a number of signs in the parish, along the A606 road and on Browns Lane.

8   FINANCIAL MATTERS AND BUDGET/PRECEPT FOR 2011/2012

            Members authorised payment of accounts as per the schedule presented. 

Members discussed a report presented by the clerk on the Budget and Precept for 2011/2012. It was agreed to seek a precept from the Borough Council in the sum of £4,632, the same figure that had been agreed for the previous two years.

The council agreed it would offer financial backing for the proposed Diamond Jubilee Celebrations for The Queen in June 2012 although it hoped the events would be self financing.

No suggestions were put forward for ways to mark the forthcoming Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

9  WEBSITE UPDATE  There was no information offered.

10 QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE

Coun. Mrs Benney said she hoped to be able to report at the next meeting on some of the plans for the event in June next year. 

11 AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING

It was agreed the items should include the Emergency Plan being produced by Notts County Council.

12 PUBLIC SESSION  No items were raised.
