Minutes of a Meeting of STANTON ON THE WOLDS Parish Council held on July 14th 2010, at 7.30pm, at the Parish Church, Stanton on the Wolds

Also in attendance: The clerk Mike Elliott, Coun. Mrs Fiona Mason (Rushcliffe Borough Council) and one member of the public. 1] APOLOGIES were received from Coun. Alex McKee. 2] DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST There were none. 3] MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING HELD ON MAY 12, 2010, were accepted as circulated and signed by the chairman. 4] CLERK’S REPORT FROM PREVIOUS MEETING Nothing to report. 5] CORRESPONDENCE Nottinghamshire County Council wrote to advise of the various records of the parish council deposited at Nottinghamshire Archives. It was agreed to pass on the information to Mr Alan Hunt for use on the website. Rushcliffe Community and Voluntary Service wrote asking for consideration of a grant towards the running of its Voluntary Transport Scheme and it was agreed to make a grant of £100. Nottinghamshire County Council wrote to advise of the availability to parish councils on the delivery of local services in their own village. Members did not feel able to offer to undertake any of the items offered. Rushcliffe Borough Council wrote in regard to its annual Small Environmental Improvement Schemes Programme 2010/2011 including the Parish Planting and Landscaping Scheme. Coun. Mrs Healy would investigate the need for some planting on the site of the village sign and discuss the matter with the chairman and the clerk. Nottinghamshire County Council wrote to advise it was undertaking a severe winter weather survey and asked for comments from the parish council. The chairman said he would prepare notes for the clerk to forward. Nottinghamshire County Council responded to the parish council comment on footpath conditions on Melton Road and Stanton Lane and said it adhered to its previous opinion that the condition of the routes concerned did not warrant immediate work. A letter was received from Mr Dennis Hackett on the same subject, saying the condition of pavements in the village was poor. The clerk was to send a copy of the County Council response to Mr Hackett. Mr David Roos of the Keyworth Village in Bloom initiative confirmed to the parish council that it was fully covered by insurance and any work it undertook would not create any liability for the parish council. Nottinghamshire Police advised of a meeting at Radcliffe on Trenton on July 22 at which it would outline the future services it would operate taking into account the need to meet finance restrictions and Coun. Mrs Healy said she would attend. 6] PLANNING MATTERS Planning Applications 10/00893/CLUPRD Application for Certificate of Lawfulness in respect of proposed single storey side and rear extensions, outbuildings to both sides of rear garden; 108 Melton Road. No objection Rushcliffe Borough Council Decisions 10/00599/FUL Construction of a detached single garage; 1 Charleswold Court, Thurlby Road. Grant Permission 7] VILLAGE AMENITIES / ENVIRONMENT The clerk reported on an email from Notts County Council’s Highways Department concerning the replacement of the public seat adjacent to the Melton Road petrol station. It said the land was in highways ownership and as such the seat would have to have planning permission for it to go back on the site. It had been removed after being damaged during operations put in hand by the garage. Coun. Mrs Healy reported there had been numerous new name signs erected in the village as well as the public seat on Browns Lane. The clerk was asked to write to thank Notts County Council for its support, and in particular for the seat which had been supplied under the new Local Improvement Scheme. The council was informed by Coun. Mrs Healy that agreement had been reached between the school and Notts County Council’s Rights of Way Department in regard to the provision of a new gate on the school boundary and the bridge over the stream from the playing field. 8] SPEEDING TRAFFIC Members were told there had not been as yet further response from Notts County Council in regard to the removal of the bollards from the A606 road. Coun. Mrs Benney was to pass on information to the clerk that would be presented to the County Council. 9] MEMBERSHIP OF RURAL COMMUNITY ACTION NOTTINGHAMSHIRE AND BENEFITS OF IT The clerk was asked to circulate his report on the benefits of membership of the organisation. 10] FINANCIAL MATTERS Members authorised payment of accounts as per the schedule presented. 11] COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH GROUP The chairman said there had been no traffic checks taken recently. 12] WEBSITE UPDATE Coun. Sheriston said there was still good use of the site. 13] QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE There were four people now involved in what could be promoted for the village in 2012. Coun. Sheriston said he did not think there would be any problem in regard to a site for any event to be organised. 14] NEW TRUSTEES FOR THE REV THOMAS OUSLEY CHARITY TRUST The council agreed to the appointment of the current four trustees – Couns. Mrs Margaret Healy and Jim Goodman, Mr Elwyn Bradshaw and Mr John Stockbridge – with a remit to close the trust as soon as it became possible to identify a suitable use for the money. Consideration in the first instance should be to provide some form of lasting remembrance of the legacy possibly associated with the church. 15] AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING Nothing was put forward. 16] PUBLIC SESSION A comment on the amount of rubbish to be seen regularly at the side of the A606 road was raised as was a concern of the erection of an electric fence around a field that had the pathway leading from Melton Road to the golf course running through it.
