Minutes of a Meeting of STANTON ON THE WOLDS Parish Council held on Wednesday March 12, 2008 at 7.30pm at the Parish Church

Also present: The clerk Mike Elliott, Rushcliffe Borough Council member Coun. Mrs Fiona Mason, Notts County Council member Coun. John Cottee and two members of the public. 273/8] APOLOGIES were received from Couns. Mrs Margaret Healey and the reason accepted. Coun. Dennis Hackett had indicated he would be late. 274/8] DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST There were none. 275/8] MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING held on January 9, 2008 were accepted as presented and signed by the chairman. 276/8] CLERK’S REPORT The clerk said he was aware that if Coun. Hackett had been in attendance he would have reported the sale of another six history books from the Post Office at Keyworth. 277/8] CORRESPONDENCE Rushcliffe Borough Council gave advance notice of a glass recycling consultation event on April 10, 2008. The council chairman was to be asked if she would attend. Coun. Goodman said he would attempt to attend as well. Rushcliffe Barn Owl Project presented a request for funding assistance and it was agreed to donate £50 to pay for the funding of a nesting box in the parish for five years. English Heritage advised that the matter of a new Conservation Area fell to the local Borough Council. Brian Hunt, the Chief Co-ordinator of the village Neighbourhood Watch group, said he would approach the council as and when he had any accounts to forward for mileage costs for consideration by members. Notts Newsletter advised of their competition for newsletter for 2008. It was not felt appropriate to enter. The Audit Commission gave notice of the appointment of Clement Keys as the external auditor for the next five years. Rushcliffe Borough Council responded to the council request in respect of the protected woodland at Thurlby Lane and said the people responsible for cutting back the Hawthorns were unaware they were protected by a Preservation Order. It was pointed out by the Borough Council they had only been cut back to ground level and as such should re-grow with improved vigour. Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire said that was their new name, it replacing the former title of Notts Rural Community Council. 278/8] PLANNING MATTERS Planning Applications 07/02306/FUL Mr S J McIntosh; Erect wind turbine; 143 Browns Lane. Permitted development Planning Appeal 07/00958/FUL Mr and Mrs McIntosh; Erect dwelling (following demolition of existing); 143 Browns Lane. The parish council objected to the original plans on the grounds of its size and negative impact on neighbouring properties. 07/01163/FUL DNS Ltd; Construction of new dwelling and garage on site of existing bungalow; 178 Melton Road. The parish council did not object to the original plans subject to the neighbour’s objection to side windows being noted. 279/8] VILLAGE AMENITIES / ENVIRONMENT Coun. Butler reported that there had been some work on the roadside drains outside his home and the system was currently working well. The work had been carried out by Notts County Council. Comment was made on the work currently underway to white line the A606 road. Concerns were expressed at what was being done with a suggestion motorists were confused and this could be dangerous. Coun. Cottee said he was meeting an officer from the Notts County Council Highways Department and he would raise the matter with him. It was agreed that a copy of the Planning Policy document of Rushcliffe Borough Council be circulated to members. Note provided by the chairman to the acting chairman said the telephone kiosk on Willow Brook had been repaired. The ditch had been cleaned at the corner of Browns Lane. It was agreed the council allocate £50 for purchase of evergreen bushes to be planted around the seat at that junction. Coun. McKee commented on a flooding problem that occurs at the Browns Lane / Stanton Lane corner. Coun. Cottee agreed to raise this matter with the County Council officer he was meeting later in the week. Coun. Goodman presented a report on bridle paths in the parish in response to a letter received earlier from Widmerpool Parish Council. He presented the clerk with a copy of the suggested response and this was agreed. Coun. Hackett arrived at this point. 280/8] FINANCIAL MATTERS The accounts were approved for payment as per the schedule. Coun. Hackett confirmed he had received money from Keyworth Post Office for the sale of another six history books. 281/8] NEXT MEETING The date of the next meeting was confirmed for May 14, 2008, which would also be the Annual Parish Meeting. The parish meeting would start at 7.00pm and the parish council meeting at 7.30pm. 282/8] PUBLIC SESSION Comment was made on the possibility of a re-assessment of all private dwellings in the UK. It was felt this was not a matter for the parish council to raise. 283/8] AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING There were no items suggested. The meeting closed at 8.35pm. |
