Jim Goodman, opened the meeting and welcomed those attending. 2] Minutes of the meeting held on May 12, 2010 The minutes were accepted and signed by the chairman as presented. 3] Report of the Chairman Coun. Goodman presented a written report he had produced and which is appended to these minutes. It was to be summarised in the next parish council newsletter. 4] Correspondence There was no correspondence to report. 5] Report on the Finances of the Parish Council The clerk presented a written report saying the council had started the 2010/2011 financial year with a figure in hand of £12,371 compared to £11,469 in the previous financial year. During the year the main items of expenditure had been £409 for insurance, £165 for audit fees, subscriptions with £80, £210 for grass cutting and maintenance and £126 for the publication of the parish council newsletter, with £126 spent on meeting room hire. Expenditure on the parish council website had been £168. The total expenditure for the year had been £4,157. The income during the year totalled £5,050 comprising of £4,632 from precept, £21 from sales of the village history book and £345 recovered from VAT spent on items and services during the 2009/2010 year. Very little had been received in the form of bank interest during the year due to the low interest rates, the amount received being £53. The council had ended the year with a balance in hand of £13,265 and after carefully considering the expected expenditure and income during the 2011/2012 had precepted on the Borough Council the amount of £4,632, same as in the previous two financial years. 6] The Rev Thomas Ousley Charity Trust The meeting was given a report on the state of the trust, which dates back to the year 1721, by its chairman Mr John Stockbridge. It had been established by the Rev Thomas Ousley, who had been the minister of All Saints Church at Stanton on the Wolds and who had left a property in Gedling which was eventually sold and the money invested. The trust funds were currently invested with the Nottingham Building Society and amounted to £825. There had been no grants made by the trustees during the last year. The annual return for 2010 had been submitted to the Charities Commission and had been accepted. The chairman said they were looking to cease the trust as the amount of interest that was available for distribution was so small. The Charities Commission had said it would like to wind up all trusts under £5,000 in value. 7] Report on the village website by Alan Hunt A report from Mr Hunt is appended to the minutes. 8] Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Coun. Mrs Angela Benney said plans were progressing for the planned ‘street’ garden party in June 2012 and they hoped it would provide the village with a wonderful event to mark the special occasion. 9] Any other items of business Concerns were expressed by residents at the stopping up by the erection of a locked gate of a claimed right of way leading from Browns Lane over the railway tunnel. Village residents could confirm the route had been used for over 50 years. Notts County Council had been contacted and the necessary action to reopen the route was being sought from it. The meeting closed at 7.45pm. |
